Ita Buttrose with Robins Kitchen General Manager Shane HicksPublishing pioneer, Ita Buttrose has addressed the store managers of growing kitchenware retailer, Robins Kitchen encouraging them to embrace change and to open the door when opportunity knocks. Speaking about the challenging trading conditions currently affecting Australian retailing Ms Buttrose said, “tough times don’t last but tough people do.” Ms Buttrose was speaking at the Robins Kitchen annual store managers conference in Malooolaba today. The vast majority of Robins Kitchen staff are female and Buttrose had the 54 store managers and support office staff captivated as she recounted some of the challenges and successes she experience during her career. Robins Kitchen General Manager, Shane Hicks said the conference was always a worthwhile exercise. “Bringing our store managers together in the one place to reflect, reward and plan is an investment in our most important asset, our people,” he said. “Having Ita as our special guest speaker made the event even more memorable. Robins Kitchen is an iconic brand in Queensland and northern NSW and Ita is an icon of popular culture and an inspiration to working women so she was a great fit.” Robins Kitchen is opening its 55th store (17th in NSW) at Moore Park Supa Centre in late October.
